No Baby Yet!

We're all anxiously waiting for the little one to give us the sign, but nothing yet. Dr. says there's a little more progress and he will induce if we go a week past the due date. Surprisingly the week between the holidays went pretty fast with so many visitors (Grandma & Grandpa Asher, Aunt Deb, Keir's Mom, Troy, Meg, Hallie & Maya, and Karen & Travis, and my Mom and Dad. Thanks for coming to see us! Now let's hope the wait isn't much longer!

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

the Dr. gives news

I hope it's not too much info, but we're 50% effaced & 1 cm dialated! Don't come to the hospital yet, my body's just getting ready for the big day (could be up to 3-5 more weeks) or maybe less!

12.12.2006

37 weeks

Come this Friday the baby is considererd full-term! That means that if I go into labor they will not stop it. The babies lungs should be fully developed, and some say when that happens a chemical is released in my body that lets me know that it's time! We are pretty much prepared for that time to come! We have one class (Newborn Care) left on Monday.

Thank you, Becky and Erika, for putting on such a nice couples shower for us on Saturday. And thanks to all who came. We recieved so many nice things I couldn't wait to get the nursery ready. On Sunday we set the baby room up (see the picture of Keir setting up the crib).

I'm still feeling very well and getting that walk in with the dogs everyday. I am trying to get as much sleep as I can (advise from other moms of newborns). Here is a picture of me at 36 weeks. We now start our weekly Doctor visits.

11.19.2006

progress made!

Yes, progress is being made (the baby continues to grow, see the 33 week picture), but I'm really talking about the progress on the basement! Thanks to our working boys (Keir, my dad, Nate & Roger Huettl) our baby room is one step closer to being put together.

Thanks guys!

We also have started our childbirth classes! 3 more of those to go and a newborn class. Then bring on the baby!

8 months along!

Well I've managed to stay busy. I subbed Tues & Wed, while Mon (workday for teachers) I took care of much of my end of the season duties for volleyball. I also did some Christmas shopping! I can't wait for Christmas as that will mean only two weeks unti lthe due date! Speaking of Christmas, Keir put up the lights last weekend in the heat wave (much better than the 10 degree weather we've done it in the past). Today, Thurs. I'll meet my brother, Troy for lunch. I'm excited to hear if they found out if the sex of their baby at their ultrasound this week.

Now the baby, it definitely is continuing to grow! I'm starting to hear those comments loud and clear. "Wow, you have 8 weeks to go, my sister is due any day and she's about your size." For some reason these comments do affect us pregnant people... so please think before you speak to those ladies w/ bumps.

I have now started to understand why people ask, "Is the baby keeping you up at night?" I start to wonder if I should try to hold off those bathroom trips as everytime I go, the baby seems to wake and want to play. At 3:00 am, I am not welcoming this idea. Maybe God does prepare us for those night feedings, but why doesn't Keir get prepared for the diaper changes at 3 am?

The Dr. apt. went fine the other week. Dr. Taylor says the head is down and everything is normal. We start our baby classes tonight with Car Seat Safety and then next week is Breastfeeding with the next week being our 1st of 4 weeks of Preparing for Childbirth. These should help us really prepare to be parents!

Babies are all around!
Congratulations to:
the Vokals on their baby boy, Dylan, born Oct. 27th.
the Browns on their baby girl, Sophia, born Oct. 23rd.
Pastor Steve and his family on their granddaughter, Allison, born Nov. 2nd.

We're so happy they are all healthy and doing well!

Due date....9 and a half weeks away!

I'm still feeling very well! Tomorrow we have our 30/31 week check-up and are on a every two-week basis for check-ups now.

Volleyball is over and I am finishing my last week at St. Clair long-term subbing. I'm a bit worried I won't know what to do with my time! I will be subbing on a daily basis and hope to help in the basement as much as possible and possibly do a little shopping for baby (car seat, diapers, etc.)

I'm starting to feel anxious to play some volleyball and do some running.... hopefully that'll stick around until after the baby is born!

My mom and dad came over last weekend. The boys worked on the basement while mom and I did a good cleaning of the kitchen cupboards and drawers. It's funny to think that in a year there'll be little hands playing with those pots and pans and tupperware!

3rd Trimester!

27 Weeks Along: As growth continues, baby weighs in at over 2 pounds (1 kg). And because his/her body is more developed, measurement no longer goes from rump to crown, but from tip to toe—about 15 inches (38cm)! Baby can suck his/her thumb now, which is actually a good thing! It helps calm him/her, while also helping to strengthen jaw muscles and encourage the suckling reflex. Baby can even cry now, but we won’t be able to hear him/her.

I'm almost able to reconginze some of these baby parts moving around in there. Yesterday I swore it was a foot pressing against my skin!

10.04.2006

92 days?!

Yes, only 3 months to go! Baby is on the move and you can see it pretty easily when you watch my tummy!

Baby is over 2 pounds and 14 and a half inches long. Here is a picture, not the one I wanted to send as we can't find the one with the dogs that we wanted to post. So here's my 26 week picture.

9.13.2006

114 days to go!

Yes, I have made it to 24 weeks! I feel like I look 24 weeks or better as well. Not too much is new here. I have my next Dr. visit next week and they will then test my blood sugar for gestational diabetes (mandatory screening). We are starting to plan for finishing the basement (which will allow for a baby room upstairs). So I made a second go at getting all of the extras in bins to be neatly tucked away until we need them or space allows.

Baby weighs about 1.2 pounds and is about 8.4 inches from crown to rump (or just under 12 inches from head to heel). His or her lungs have started secreting surfactant, the substance that keeps the moist, interior surface of the lungs from sticking together; and he or she is practicing breathing. Baby's eyes are also watching for light and its ears are listening to my heart beat and my stomach growl. Isn't that amazing!

Thanks for checking the blog... sorry i've been slow to update. Pictures will come next week!

camping

The baby had it's first (kind of) camping trip this weekend. It was a bit interesting with the "3" of us and two dogs stuffed into a two person tent. I've never felt closer as a family.

Luckily the weather cooperated and it was nice a cool so I could have a barrier between the dog hair. But waking up to doggy kisses every 30 minutes was not my idea of ideal sleep. So we wore the dogs out playing in the lake and chasing each other along with taking a walk through some "hunting" land. Finally the second night I (and the baby were) was able to sleep more peacefully.

So we're finding out that this baby is allowing us to get new toys including a new(er) truck for a baby seat, a "familymobile" and now a biggger tent, and hopefully a completed basement. Thank you God for giving us 9 months to prepare!

21 week Dr. Visit

I saw the Dr. today. The heartbeat and a kick were quickly evident on the Doppler. All appears normal after checking the ultrasound results! Also, I'm measuring to be the right size - hence the growth lately.

My Mayo Clinic Pregnancy books says the baby is making blood cells from the bone marrow, liver and spleen. Next week the baby should measure 7 and a half inches crown to rump (closer to 10 head to toe) and will weigh nearly a pound!

Thanks for checking the blog! Here are some of the ultrasound pics. One of the crossed legs and the other you can see the leg and arm with hand by the face.

ultrasound today!

All went well at the ultrasound today. The tech said our due date is Jan. 4th instead of the 7th. This is good news to Keir who really wants a tax-break baby. However, from family experience, the baby will wait until it's about a week past the due date to make an appearance.

It was a so great to hear that the baby is healthy and there shouldn't be any surprises. We saw the 4 chambers of the heart, two kidneys, all the limbs, and other important parts... except for the important part we didn't want to see. We could even see four fingers and a thumb on each hand! The baby is a mover and a shaker as the tech had a hard time keeping up with him/her. I did just come from practice, so it wasn't a Red Bull that was the cause of it (like the nurse suggested). It's no wonder I feel the baby so much.

We have plenty of pictures to share, but we'll pick the best ones and scan them in to post them when we can.

19 weeks

Yes, 19 weeks already. I'm looking forward to being half way this week. On Tuesday we have our ultrasound @ 3:30. However I feel as though I've been able to get to know the baby lately as I can feel it moving around in there. Keir has been able to feel the little one from the outside too! So far, I can tell he/she likes to eat and relax.... it must take after Keir. :-)

So what's happening this week?
How the baby's growing: The baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces, and he/she measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the length of a small zucchini. His/her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of his body now. His/ber kidneys continue to make urine, and the hair on his scalp is sprouting. This is a crucial time for sensory development: The baby's brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. If the baby is a girl, she has an astonishing six million eggs in her ovaries. They'll dwindle to fewer than two million by the time she's born.

Volleyball starts on Monday. We will have 2-a-day practices for the first two weeks. The first three days we have try-outs. As of now there are 73 girls signed up and only 54 can make a team.

I found out this week that I'll be teaching in St. Clair as a long term sub. The position goes until Nov. and is teaching health and P.E. to some elementary classes, 7th, and 10th grade. A perfect fit!

Enjoy the remainder of the summer!

not a bad idea

Hey All,

Some of you have started your blogs and I thought I'd give it a try. I'll keep you posted on how the baby and I are growing, maybe even Keir and the dogs... hopefully they aren't growing too much :-)

Feel free to post comments and ask Q's!
