BTW, dilated to 6cm. t-minus 15 minutes to Grey's.

We are nearing transitional phase, and I don't mean going from empty nest to retirement.

I am utterly amazed at the courage and strength of Tricia. You hear so much about the whole process but it does the actual birthing process no justice.

The force is strong with this one......

It's no surprise to me that Trish is doing great!!!!! Grandma Pat's fortitude is emerging strong in her....just keep on. We'll be watching Grey's also.....and praying for that baby Asher to arrive. Not planning on any travel any more tonight I fear. Grandpa will need his rest to work tomorrow....hopefully I can get him to quit at noon to come see our newest little sweetheart! Grandma N.

  2. For the uninitiated, me included, who are following this saga I offer the following:

"Transition phase. This phase can last anywhere from a few minutes to a several hours. It's here that your partner is most likely to swear at you like a truck driver. (Don't take it personally; even women who have coped well up to this point often "lose it" during the transition phase.) Contractions last 60 to 90 seconds and come two or three minutes apart."

for my information which i got for the above

This last reference may or may not work because it's a dynamic page (technical crapolla)ask me when you se me)

Hey it's not scientific research here, but at least I know better what's going on.

I talked to Tara ( Tricia's nurse) and Keir said "everything is fine".

  3. Keir your mother just told me "she be sleeping with the dogs tonite". You and Tricia take care of the baby and we'll (sorry your Mother) will take of your other 'girls'.

    Her words not mine.

Maybe you guys should just call it a night and pick up where you left off tomorrow. Don't rush it on our behalf!

The Nickel women are long laborers. Lora claims more than 24 hrs with Taylor and I witnessed 14 hours with Derek (OK I slept through some of that). And beware the transitional period with these girls...I took it personally, but got over it, it is now a funny story...and very worthwhile!

Go Tricia and Keir! We're so proud of you both.

We'll keep praying that it comes quick and relatively painless. Heck, I'll pray it shoots out right into Keir hands - and he catches it! Keir, pretend it's a puck and you're Rollie Roleson!

  6. For those of you that are following what's going on would someone please enlighten me as to what is "t-minus 15 minutes to Grey's"

I searched the web and come up a TV series called Grey's Anatomy is this what Keir's referring to? I'm lost - never mind the editorial comments.

Don't worry Greg...that is what he means. Grey's Anatomy is one of Tricia's favorite shows and its on from 8 - 9. So there's no way she's going to interrupt that to have a kid. My prediction is baby Asher arrives at 9:08!

Me again kids. Your hairy girls are really missing you and fully realize something is up. We'll be alright. That is why I am sleeping with the dogs. You all ought to try it, they are quite a pair. Don't expect me to run in to the hospital tonight as I just figured out how to operate Tricia's MAC. This will meet my requirements quite well until Baby Asher decides to grace this earth with it's presence. Hang in there you two. Tricia you are doing awesome work. Giving birth is not easy! Keir we do truely appreciate the running commentary. It is not easy being a bystander! Aske your father! Love the three of you so much, please tell Baby Asher that!

  9. Thanks Jim! As an uninitiated I was looking for a scientific answer where there wasn't one. I'd still be searching - hey that's me trying to use technology for answers when it's a popular TV series I guess - never seen it. It's not the thing which would ever be on the History or Discovery channel. :)

Man I didn't think I was that old.

    Keir,

What time do your hairy girls go to bed? When I do or sooner?

By the way, tell Tricia I changed your bedding but cannot figure out your fancy washing machine. You didn't leave instructions for that. I did finally figure out how to operate the TV/Dish. Give a round of applause for the old Grandma! The girls are a sleep on their pillows, is it alright to leave them there or do they aboslutely need to sleep in their kennels?

    GO Tricia GO!

    Jim/Lora,

Are you planningon coming down tonight? I don't like surprises in a house that isn't my own?

Call whenever you have time after the appearance of the "star" !!!!! We'll go to bed soon, but call anytime- we'll get back to sleep in no time and won't be wondering what's going on. May check the blog periodically also, but will await that call. You are all doing great; yes, we women of this family do take a long time to labor, but it's always worth it in the end. Love you all!!!!! Grandma N.

Okay all, dinner with the girls and VB is over, now just waiting for that baby again. I think I'll stay in Lino tonight and head to Mankato tomorrow.

Thanks for taking care of the hairy ones, Mary! No surprises tonight!

Just to set the record straight, it was 7 pm to 1:50 pm the next afternoon that Taylor came and with Derek it was 4 am to 8:30 pm that Derek came. Keep it up Tricia the best is yet to come. The pushing is awesome as you finally get to "do" something.

Can't wait! We are all in suspense. Love you! Lora

Okay, one last check before lights out....I've been baking cookies since I got off work. Have to keep busy so I don't get nervous. I think I have about 150 baked so far....will that be enough to last the weekend? Good night and God bless...praying all goes well tonight and that baby comes soon!!! It's getting really cold, and I bet he isn't crazy about coming out of that warm place.....unless he's thinking of being a hockey player!

Thanks for the input Lora! I was in labor 11:20pm to7:30am with Keir. Hard labor all the way. Was so happy when they finally broke the water! Keir popped out within an hour as I recall. I did call my dear husband "Gregg" a few names in that transition stage. A mother never forgets each birth! There is nothng like it. That's why God Gave women the gift of being the person who bares the child and eventually gives birth.

I will check the blog as I get up alot during the night to pee, and old age factor!

The girls are asleep on their pillows,we'llsee how long that lasts!

Tricia, thank you for being the wife of my son and the mother of our grand child. You are an awesome woman! I thank your parents, Janis & David for sharing you with Gregg & I!

Goodnight all and hope to see you along with Baby Asher tomorrow (1-12-07).

    IT's A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!

Kier just called. Tricia gave birth at 10:24 by C-Section. She hadn't progressed in over 4 hrs.

I didn't ask nor did Keir give specifics when he called except to say Tricia is doing OK in recovery right now and going to another room .

Keir sounded wide awake and quite relieved.

More to follow when he gets time and Tricia settled for the night.

Now we can all get some sleep.
